We understand that some students may need a better understanding of what being a professional animator involves before deciding to commit to animation as a career. We offer a limited number of introductory courses live, online via zoom, to provide just that - some hands-on experience and working knowledge of the tools and processes used in the animation and film-production industry. Courses are offered online only, with multiple course starts through the academic year.
INTRODUCTORY COURSES | Taught Live Online
INTRODUCTION TO 2D ANIMATION

Learn from our school’s founder who has been an animator and director for Looney Tunes, Can’t Don’t Dance, Scooby Doo, Family Guy, Pink Panther and many more.
This fun introductory course will introduce students to the animation industry and how it works as well as learning to animate in 2D. Students will learn the principles of animation and many inside secrets to how professional animators work. As well as animation, students will learn how to design characters and basic storyboarding so they can get an overall perspective of different jobs in the industry.
This 8-week animation course is offered live online via zoom in small groups only, to give each student a chance to get feedback, coaching, ask questions and have a hands-on opportunity to work with the high-end software used in the industry. It gives students a great introduction to the entire animation process on a real Hollywood production. Students will learn how to make their drawings more solid and dynamic, how to present their work in a more professional way, and how to make a character move fluidly and to have personality.
Students will learn to animate several classic characters and their own. They will design characters for several example studio projects and learn how story artists work.
Students will leave this class with an improved portfolio of work as well as the knowledge of how the animation industry works in film, games, and television.
Intermediate drawing skills are required for this class. If you do not draw we recommend our 3D class!
INTRODUCTION TO 3D ANIMATION

In this foundational course we introduce students to 3D animation in a simple and fun way using characters like the Iron Giant, Jerry Mouse and Wall E! Students will be amazed and delighted at their ability to learn to move and act a character in 3D with no drawing skills needed. Learn about what 3D animators do and how the industry works as an animator for the biggest studios in the business.
This 8-week animation course is offered live online via zoom in small groups only, to give each student a chance to get feedback, coaching, ask questions and have a hands-on opportunity to work with the high-end software used in the industry. The course gives students a great introduction to the moviemaking process from an insider's perspective on a real Hollywood production. Basic computer skills are required. Students will get to keep 3 great characters to continue to learn with after the class is completed.
Students will leave this class with several great portfolio pieces and one dynamic shot rendered in Unreal Engine that will blow away your friends and family!
Creative Edge (CE) | Intermediate Portfolio Program

Creative Edge is an intermediate-level 3D program for students who want to go deeper in animation, film, or games before committing to a 2-year or 3-year program. It is designed for students who enjoy animation and creativity, but are asking a critical question:
“Do I want this badly enough to pursue it seriously?”
Creative Edge exists to answer that question honestly — through real projects, real feedback, and real portfolio outcomes, not theory alone. Students will create three exciting industry-style portfolio pieces, intentionally designed to be achievable without advanced animation skills, feel the thrill of real production-level work with a Hollywood mentor, and discover whether animation is their future.
